Corridor as a Gallery: Exhibition Meets Living Room

Y2 Construction Coursework, October 2019

Image

Project description:

Gallery, Department of Architecture, University of Cambridge

The Gallery should become a corridor with student work on one wall and curtains on the other: when drawn, a living room with a kitchen is revealed. The space is efficient as there are no furniture blocking the route to and from the Crit Space.

As the ceiling is low, the wall of mirrors serve a crucial role in expanding the space. The curtains serve as dividers and sounds absorbents. By having the kitchen along the wall more people can have access to it simultaneously. When having lunch, students can rearrange, claim the space for themselves.

Made with Rhino and Photoshop.
Task: redesign the Gallery using IKEA furniture only.
